Established in 1916 and named after the celebrated Bengali novelist Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, the Sarat Chandra Institute in Bandel is a cultural landmark of the Eastern Railway. It has been a hub for literary, cultural, and recreational activities for over a century.

 

The institute boasts a large auditorium, library, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and space for community gatherings. Terms & Conditions

  • The allotment timing of the Sarat Chandra Institute hall/premises is from 07:00 hrs on the date of allotment to 07:00 hrs the next day; strict adherence is required.

  • The managing committee is not responsible for theft or loss of any personal belongings of the occupants.

  • Electricity consumption for extra lighting or outside hall lighting must be arranged by the allottee at their own cost.

  • Sticking posters is strictly prohibited in the entire premises; removal charges will be recovered from the allottee if violated.

  • Consumption of alcoholic drinks, drugs, or playing cards is strictly prohibited inside the premises.

  • After occupation, the allottee is responsible for all items, including tables and chairs; damage/breakage charges will be recovered from them.

  • Only the function specified in the application form may be conducted; no other events are permitted.

  • Subletting or booking under false grounds will result in forfeiture of the security deposit and possible D&A Rules action.

  • The allottee must verify available facilities at the premises well in advance of the function date.

  • In case of non-supply or shortage of water/electricity by railway authorities, the allottee must make their own arrangements.

  • No official contract exists for stage/electrical decoration; the allottee must arrange these independently.

  • No security personnel are provided; the allottee must arrange private security if needed.

  • The allottee must bring their own locks and keys for securing items in provided rooms; locks must be removed after the function.

  • Use of loudspeakers is prohibited after 22:00 hrs outside the hall and after 23:00 hrs inside; DJ boxes or similar speakers are banned.

  • Blasting of crackers is strictly prohibited within the premises.

  • The allottee must submit the prescribed application form along with a valid identity document in advance.

  • The allottee must comply with all West Bengal Pollution Control Board guidelines regarding sound levels.

  • Any damage to landscaping, plants, or external areas will be charged to the allottee.

  • Parking of vehicles must be done only in designated areas; blocking emergency exits is prohibited.
